Zella Dixson Obituary, Death – Zella Dixson, age 79, of Waverly, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Sayre Personal Care in Sayre, Pennsylvania. She had lived a full and fulfilling life for a very long time. Her parents, Kenneth and Gertrude White Dynes, together with her husband, Richard Dixson, and a brother, Jack, all went away before she did. She was the last surviving member of her family. She is the sole member of her immediate family to have survived. Her children, Kandi Dixson of Waverly and Kyle Dixson and his wife, Marsha, of Big Flats, as well as her grandsons, Cody (Gabby), and Casie, and her great-grandchildren, Madi, Marlowe, and Maxwell, will always remember their grandmother.
Zella was born in the Valley, and she obtained her diploma from Waverly High School in the year 1961. Zella went to school there until she graduated. She worked for the railroad for a considerable chunk of her career before deciding to pursue a nursing education at Corning Community College and eventually became a registered nurse. Over the course of more than 20 years, she was employed at the Robert Packer Hospital as a registered nurse.
She achieved a lot of success in the bowling world and was even inducted into the bowling hall of fame. Being a counselor and assisting those who were struggling brought her a sense of fulfillment. Her preferred travel companion was her husband, Dick, whom she had been with for many years. At one time or another, the Waverly American Legion Post #283 and the Waverly United Methodist Church counted her as a member of their respective organizations.
Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at the Blauvelt Funeral Home in Waverly, New York, which can be found at 625 Broad Street. The visitation will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in honor of Zella on November 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Waverly United Methodist Church, which can be found at 158 Chemung Street in Waverly, New York. The Reverend Cindy Schulte will serve as the worship service’s presider. The family has made the request that the burial take place in the Glenwood Cemetery at any time that is convenient for them.
