Tom Smith Obituary, Death – Irving Thomas “Tom” Smith, who passed away on November 3, 2022, had reached the ripe old age of 100 at the time of his passing. Tom was his nickname, and everyone knew him by it. His family took care of him up to the moment he passed away, and they continued to do so right up until the moment he did. Tom spent more than 40 years teaching and coaching in the Greenwich Community. During that time, a considerable number of his pupils and athletes affectionately referred to him as “Coach Smith.” Tom’s tenure in the Greenwich Community encompassed this time period and included both teaching and coaching responsibilities.
Many individuals are of the opinion that Tom’s career as a coach at Central Middle School, which began in 1958 and continued all the way up until 1986, is deserving of being regarded as the pinnacle of his accomplishments because it lasted for such a long period of time. Tom’s tenure as a coach at Central Middle School began in 1958 and lasted until 1986. He was there for the entirety of those years. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Yvonne (nee Niess); his children, Michelle Meth and Suzanne Guerin; his four grandchildren, Danielle Kneppers, Jacqueline Meth, Jack and Madeleine Guerin; one great-grandson, Jonah; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom also leaves behind one great-grandson. Tom is also survived by one of his great-grandchildren. In addition, one of Tom’s great-grandchildren will carry on his legacy after his passing. In addition, following Tom’s departure, one of his great-grandchildren will carry on the traditions that he established. Additionally, after Tom passes away, one of his great-grandchildren will take over the traditions that he started and continue them after his passing. At the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Greenwich, Connecticut, on Thursday, November 10, visitors will have the opportunity to pay their respects to the departed between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 pm.
