Tim Schmotzer Obituary, Death – Basketball coach Tim Schmotzer has passed away. The main reason Tim Schmotzer got into coaching was because of his father. He was just an amazing man. He fought for his country in World War II on the beach at Normandy, so it’s so ironic that Tim Schmotzer coached at Normandy High School. He worked on the railroad, but always found time to coach his brothers and Tim Schmotzer in baseball, basketball, and football while we were growing up.

The crazy part of all this is that his son is studying in France this semester.  Tim Schmotzer loves spending time with his wife Renee and his two children, Tim and Emma. he also loves spending time with his brothers and sisters and their families. He loves to read, and also runs when he has the time. He also likes to follow the Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns.

The Lions of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin are now looking for a new head basketball coach, almost exactly 365 days to the date that Chris Poulos resigned from his post as coach of the school’s basketball team. According to an announcement made by the NDCL on March 21, Tim Schmotzer resigned from his position after only one season after being hired on May 8, 2018.

A statement from Schmotzer read as follows: “Due to personal circumstances, I will be resigning from my position as boys basketball coach.” “My time spent at NDCL has been nothing short of spectacular, and I would want to extend my gratitude to all of the parents, players, and athletic department staff members who contributed to the event’s status as an unforgettable one.”

Schmotzer has been appointed to take over for Poulos, who coached the Lions in some capacity for a total of 14 seasons before being replaced by Schmotzer. When Poulos became the school’s associate principal on March 23, 2018, he took on additional administrative responsibilities. As a result, he decided to step down from his position as the dean of students at NDCL.

The Lions concluded the 2018–19 campaign with a record of 6–17. Jim Clark, who is the athletic director, will be in charge of leading the search for a new coach.
