Thomas Tomkunas Obituary, Death – We are sorry to have to inform you of the passing of Past Chief Thomas Tomkunas, and we would like to offer our most sincere condolences to you and the rest of the family during this trying time.In 1954, Chief Tomkunas began his long and distinguished career with the police department that would one day be known by his name. He would go on to become the department’s longest serving chief.

Later in life, he would eventually sign up with Engine Company 1 and work his way up through the ranks, eventually becoming the Lieutenant and Captain of the company. This would happen much later in his life. This would not occur until much further along in his life. During the time that he was serving as Captain, he was the one who came up with the concept of holding a Christmas Tree Sale on an annual basis. This is a tradition that is followed all the way up until the present day.

Tom would eventually work his way up through the ranks to become the 19th Chief of the Department, a position he would hold from the year 1996 all the way through the year 2001. Tom would eventually become Chief of the Department. Chief Tomkunas was in charge of moving our organization into its current headquarters while he was serving as commanding officer, which he also managed.

He did this while he was in charge of the organization. This was carried out under his leadership of the organization at the time. During this difficult time, the Tomkunas family asks that they be kept in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your consideration. I am grateful to you for taking this into consideration. As soon as all of the specifics have been ironed out and confirmed, we will revise the information on this page to reflect the most recent developments.
