Sayer Evans Obituary, Death – On November 19, 2022, a cherished son, brother, and grandson who lived a short life but left an impression on everyone he met took his own life. Although he had a brief existence, he was able to touch the lives of those he interacted with. Sayer Rhys Evans was a brave and honorable man who served both in the United States Marine Corps and the Wilmington (Delaware) Police Department. Sayer was killed in the line of duty while serving in both of these capacities.

Sayer was able to realize his goals and accomplish everything he had set out to do. He followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in May of 2018, and he served in the reserves right up until the day he passed away. His grandfather also served in the Marine Corps. In May of 2021, he was finally able to realize his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer for the Wilmington Police Department in Delaware, where he had excelled academically and finished at the top of his class, thereby qualifying him for a position on the force. Sayer had a strong commitment to the field of law enforcement and took great pride in the fact that he was able to serve the community in which he lived.

Sayer was endowed with a razor-sharp wit in addition to a dry sense of humor. In addition, he was extremely intelligent, and there were times when this quality worked against him rather than for him. If a memorial fundraising effort could be organized in his honor, we would consider it a great honor. This would ensure that his passing will not be without significance. When we try to put into words how much we are going to miss him, we won’t be able to find the right words.
