Ross Young Obituary, Death – The late Ross Young’s family announces his peaceful departure from his home in Woodstock, Newfoundland, on Friday, November 11, 2022, in the presence of his loving wife. Ross Young was born in Campbellton, Newfoundland to Garfield and Phoebe Young. Ross began working with Transportation and Works (Engineering) as a young man and stayed there until he retired at the age of 60, where he made countless lifelong acquaintances. Ross had been a member and supporter of the Norris Arm Salvation Army Corps for many years. He joined the Woodstock Salvation Army Corps after coming to Woodstock with his wife Ena in 2001.

He spent his days producing vegetables, mowing grass for neighbors on his ride-on lawn mower, doing home tasks, and cooking supper for his wife every night during his retirement. Ena, his nearly 21-year-old wife, is survived by his sons Greg (Corinne Maxwell) and Geoff (Renee); daughter Colleen Rideout (Rodney); grandchildren Alvin, Jenna, Nick, Liam, Larissa, and Hailea; siblings Inez Hill, George (Della), Ethel Pope, Eleanor Wiseman (Roland), Garry (Lexie), Eugene (Lexie), Eugene (Pam).

He was predeceased by his parents, Garfield and Phoebe Young, as well as his father-in-law, Samuel Canning; mother-in-law, Mary Canning; son-in-law, Nathan Regular; sister and brother-in-law, Edna Sooley (Levi); sister, Jessie Hooper; brother, “little” Lester; brother-in-law, Harold Hill; brother-in-law, Wilfred Pope; brother-in-law, Levi. The family wishes to express profound gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of the Central NL Regional Health Centre, as well as the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Care Centre, for the exceptional care and concern shown to Ross throughout his recent hospitalizations. Thank you, especially, to relatives and friends who have offered a place to stay, visits, food, phone calls, and much-needed housework in recent months.

The Salvation Army Citadel in Woodstock, NL will be open to the public from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022. The funeral service will be officiated by Majors Neil and Dolores Abbott on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 2 p.m. at The Salvation Army Citadel in Woodstock, NL.
