Rita Brackney Obituary, Death – Rita “Sue” Brackney, age 86, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on November 16, 2022 at 9:57 p.m. in the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka, Illinois. She was formerly from Shelbyville, Illinois. She considered Shelbyville, Illinois, to be her permanent residence. She made her home in the town of Shelbyville in the state of Illinois.
On Friday, November 25, 2022, the Howe and Yockey Funeral Home will be open for visitation from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening.
In the event that anyone requires it, the funeral home can be found at 415 N. Broadway in Shelbyville, Illinois 62565. The graveside services that will be held at Union Cemetery in Altamont, Illinois on November 26, 2022 will be presided over by Bob Herdes. These services will take place on Saturday. They are scheduled to start at eleven in the morning. Donations can be made in his honor to the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka, Illinois or the Parkinson’s Research Foundation in Sarasota, Florida. Both of these organizations are located in the United States. Both of these organizations call the United States of America their home base.
Charles Francis Blakely and Lucille (Bowers) Blakely were Sue Blakely’s parents. Sue Blakely is their daughter. Sue was their only child together. It was in the city of Altamont, Illinois, that she was born on February 9, 1936. She received her diploma from Altamont High School in 1954, having graduated from the school the previous year. Her marriage to James “Jim” Willis Brackney took place at the First United Methodist Church in Altamont on July 20, 1960.
The ceremony marked the beginning of their life together as husband and wife. Up until the time that she made the decision to retire, Sue was employed as a bank teller at the First Trust Bank in Shelbyville. She played golf frequently and was a member of golf leagues in both Shelbyville, Indiana, her hometown, and Bradenton, Florida, where she spent the winter months of her life. She was a professional golfer for the better part of her life. In the town of Washington, Illinois, where she resided, Sue was an active participant in the life of the Crossroads United Methodist Church.
