Rich O’Brien Obituary, Death – Rich O’Brien passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, in the Hines, VA Hospital from AO related complications. Rich served as the President of VVA Chapter 242, and he regularly attended the weekly meeting of veterans that took place at Dunkin’ Donuts on Tuesday mornings. The location of the meeting was chosen due to his enjoyment of the coffee served there. His wife’s name is Kathy, and the two of them, along with the rest of their family and all of us, will miss Rich a great deal.
Rich will also be greatly missed by all of us. Rich is another person who will be sorely missed by all of us. Rich commanded a great deal of love and respect from all of us. When he went to Vietnam in order to serve his country and put his skills to use, he did so while serving as a member of the 1st Cavalry. Because he stepped on a landmine while he was there, he had to have the lower part of one of his legs amputated below the knee. This forced him to undergo amputation surgery.
This occurred at a level below the knee. However, this did not in the least bit deter him from continuing with what he was doing, and he did not give up. During this trying time, it is important to remember him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Please don’t overlook this responsibility. It would mean a lot to each and every one of them in their own unique way. He would be in a position where he could not avoid abandoning his family.
