The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Erik Hilton of Bear, Delaware, is a resident of Bear, Delaware.
On November 13, 2022, at approximately 6:10 p.m., it was reported that an assault had taken place in La Piazza Di Caruso, and state troopers arrived at the site. The address of the eatery is 830 Peoples Plaza, and it can be found in Newark, Delaware. When the state troopers arrived, they found a Middletown man victim who was 41 years old and had several stab wounds inside the store. The victim was found with multiple stab wounds. The results of additional research indicate that the suspect went into the shop where the incident occurred and confronted the victim, who was also the proprietor of the establishment. The victim was reportedly stabbed multiple times by the suspect before the alleged offender fled the scene on foot, as stated in the police reports. A short while later, the suspect was located at a local medical center receiving treatment for an injury incurred during the assault. He had been there for some time. The suspect, identified as Erik Hilton, was located, taken into custody, and transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with Murder in the First Degree (Felony) and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony. During the course of the suspect’s arrest, there was a complete lack of incident (Felony). His arraignment took place in the Justice of the Peace Court #11, and after that, he was transferred to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on the condition that he post a cash bond in the amount of $1,060,000.00.
