Micheal Deleff Obituary, Death – On November 10, 2022, Michael Sheldon Deleff passed away unexpectedly on the farm that he shared with his family to the east of Consort, Alberta.
Mike, or “Mike,” as he preferred to be called, entered the world on January 7, 1981, in the Consort hospital. He was James and Lynn Deleff’s third son and their third child overall.
Since birth, Mike has suffered from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bones. Because of everything that he went through, he was more resilient than anyone else I know.
He grew up with a passion for horses. Later on, with the assistance of his friends and videos, he was able to purchase and train his first horses.
He was never alone because he had Hank and Pup by his side. He enjoyed working with cattle very much, and the calving season was especially meaningful to him, whether he was assisting with a difficult calving or assisting with the rearing of a newborn calf. They both found great joy in working with cattle, which He taught Hank how to do.
Mike was the type of person who was always willing to fix or weld. It was his favorite thing to do to operate the silage cutter. When he won one of the most significant prizes available in the region during that year, he felt a sense of accomplishment.
As time went on, it became increasingly difficult for Mike as a result of all the injuries he had sustained, and with each injury, he was left more disabled. When he was in a good mood, he would assist those around him. The past few years have been filled with misery due to a broken leg, multiple surgeries, extended hospital stays, and an ongoing infection. When Kaiden became a part of our family, he turned Mike into a ray of sunshine.
Kaiden accompanied Mike wherever he went.
The news that Kaiden had cancer was devastating to Mike. When Kaiden returned home from the hospital, he expressed the sentiment that “someone had to look after Mike,” and so he expressed a desire to spend the night with Mike. I suggested that they might be able to assist one another.
Mike is survived by his mother and father, James and Lynn Deleff, as well as his brothers Rob (Beverlee) and Jesse (Lyndsay) and their daughter Kerstin, as well as his best friend of four years, Sara. In addition, Mike is survived by his extended family. Ken & Brad; Harry & Jean Deleff, Eileen Kelts, Doug & Dorothy Kelts; Jeannette Fawcett-Weir.
