Maureen Carson Obituary, Death – Dr. Maureen Carson, a former student of ours who had been battling an illness for some time, passed away on November 15, 2022 after a brief bout with the illness that she had been battling. This news has left the Department of Special Education in a state of profound sadness, and we would like to express our condolences to Dr. Carson’s family and all of his friends. Please accept our most heartfelt condolences on their behalf. In the end, Maureen was able to achieve her goal of receiving a doctorate in Exceptional Student Education from Florida Atlantic University, which is where she had conducted her research and coursework for the degree.
In addition to that, she was a graduate instructor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences during her time at the university. During the entire time that Maureen worked for the School District of Palm Beach County, she held the positions of Speech Language Pathologist and ESE Resource Room Teacher. In each of these capacities, she was accountable for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of students who exhibited signs of having communication disorders. Not only did she have a deep concern for the children themselves, but she also had a great deal of concern for the families of the students who struggled with a variety of disabilities.
Her investigation for the dissertation was centered on determining the factors that are good predictors of academic success for students with learning disabilities who are enrolled in post-secondary institutions. Specifically, her focus was on determining the factors that are good predictors of academic success for students with learning disabilities. Everyone who had the opportunity to spend some quality time with her and get to know her will be saddened by her passing away. Her passing will be felt by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
