Joan Lucas Obituary, Death – Lion Joan Lucas, who died away this past Sunday, will be remembered and missed by all of us. Everyone cherished her in our hearts.
In addition to her significant involvement in a large number of organizations located all over the Millicent Community, Joan also served as the Charter President of our Club, which had only recently been established at the time of her tenure. In addition to that, she was a founding member of our Lioness Club and served in that capacity for many years.
Joan was a member of both the Lioness Club of Millicent and the Lions Club of Wattle Range Lioness, and she held executive positions in both organizations without missing a single year of service to either one.
During the entire time that Joan was in office, she did not skip a single year of service. A few weeks ago, Joan offered to take care of the food for a school camp as part of a volunteer commitment. Joan was always willing to assist the Club with any endeavor that they were working on, regardless of what it was. Her commitment was recognized when our club gave her the James D. Richardson Award, which is given annually by the Australian Lions Foundation to a deserving recipient in recognition of their service. This honor is bestowed in her name every year. In addition to that, just recently, the Wattle Range Council selected her as its Senior of the Year and presented her with the honor that comes along with that distinction.
It was always possible to count on Joan to have the group in fits of laughter as she punished herself for any number of minor mishaps involving vehicles, cattle, or family members. You could always count on Joan to have the group in fits of laughter. This was something that she did on a regular basis, so it’s important to remember that. Joan’s unwavering dependability made her an invaluable asset in this regard. We are keeping her and her family in our thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.
