Joan Andersen Obituary, Death – Joan Andersen, who had previously served as MOSAIC’s Director of Employment and Language Programs, passed away. Olga Stachova, the CEO of MOSAIC, has sent her condolences to Joan’s family and to everyone else who has been affected by the news. Joan was a forward-thinking and vivacious leader. The most significant things are the impact she had on other people and the innumerable great memories she left behind.

After a lengthy and fruitful career at the CBC, Joan made the transition to MOSAIC in 2009 to assume the role of department head for Employment and Language. Because she was the daughter of a refugee, she felt a strong need to give back to the community by assisting refugees and other immigrants. She was afforded the opportunity by MOSAIC. Joan made it appear as though the transition from radio to language programming was simple. She began her day well before most of her coworkers were awake and rode her bike regardless of the weather. She was committed to bettering herself in the areas of education, employment, and health. Her unwavering pursuit of excellence served as an example to others around her.

During her time at MOSAIC, Joan was responsible for leading collaborations between various entities, including the government, employers, postsecondary institutions, and community agencies. Contributed to MOSAIC’s success in obtaining a WorkBC contract, which established it as the first and only settlement organization in British Columbia to manage the job-seeker service. ¬†Developed programs to assist newcomers in quickly finding employment, as well as launched creative ventures; Contributed to the development of MOSAIC’s first annual Job Fair, the organization’s signature event. ¬†In 2012, ASPECT BC honored him with the David Hutson Leadership Award for demonstrating exceptional leadership and ethics in the context of community-based training.

Her chosen line of employment does not reflect her kind and energetic attitude at all. “I am confident that I speak for every MOSAIC employee when I say that it was a privilege to work with Joan. Joan was described by Larry Chan, the Senior Manager of Employment Programs, as having integrity, profound convictions, and the ability to inspire others to be better. People gravitated toward Joan because of the presence she exuded both at MOSAIC and in the community at large. The staff at MOSAIC will miss Joan, but they will always have happy memories of her.
