Jeremy Lloyds Obituary, Death – It was recently announced that Jeremy Lloyds, a former player and umpire for Gloucestershire Cricket, has passed away at the age of 68, and everyone at the club is inconsolably upset at his departure. Jeremy was a player for Gloucestershire from 1985 till 1991. His tenure with the team spanned those years. During his stint with the Shire, he competed in 162 First Class matches and 112 List-A matches. During that time, he also won 112 of those matches. Jeremy was a really talented cricket player who represented Gloucestershire. He played the game professionally. At a little over 33 years old, he amassed an amazing 6439 runs in the First Class competition, including five hundreds and 41 fifties.

His 188 wickets, including a best score of 5/72, cemented his status as one of Gloucestershire’s best all-rounders of his career. During his time playing cricket at the List A level, Jeremy earned a total of 1381 runs, which included four half-centuries. Through the use of his right arm off-spin bowling, he was able to collect 23 wickets in the format of one-day matches. Jeremy made his first appearance in a professional game at the age of 24. He did so while playing for Somerset, a club that is situated in the same region as West Country, the county in which Jeremy was born and raised. He played for the Taunton team in a total of 100 First Class matches, during which he scored a combined total of 4,036 runs and took 133 wickets.

Future generations will think well of Jeremy’s illustrious career as an umpire, which lasted for more than 25 years. This is something that will be remembered with affection. As a result of his exceptional efforts on the domestic level, he was given the opportunity to referee five tests, 18 one-day internationals, and one international twenty20 match between the years 2000 and 2006. The former off-spinner continued to umpire matches until September 2020, and his final match took place at Taunton during a West Country rivalry between Gloucestershire and Somerset. The final match in Jeremy’s four-day schedule took held at the Seat Unique Stadium.

It was a contest between Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire for the Bob Willis trophy.
