Jason Baldwin Obituary, Death – On November 10, 2022, Jason Robert Baldwin, 49, of New Orleans, Louisiana, died abruptly. Jason was born on August 25, 1973 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was adopted at the age of six months by Barbara Russ and Robert Baldwin. In 1979, the family moved to Duluth, where Jason stayed until he finished from high school and migrated to the Twin Cities. Jason liked music, cuisine, football, and preparing cocktails.
Jason had an interest in athletics as a child and went on to play varsity football and run varsity track at Duluth East, where he graduated in 1992. However, music was Jason’s first love. Before attending college to study music production and technology, he was a part of the Duluth East band and the jazz band. Jason has been playing saxophone in various Twin Cities bands for many years and has had the privilege of working with some of the greats of the Minneapolis music scene. Jason ultimately mastered bartending and aspired to make a living from it. Jason’s skills as a bartender led to some fascinating chances, including working for months at a time on river cruises. This brought him to New Orleans, where he has lived for the past six years.
Jason’s father, Robert Baldwin, and grandparents died before him. Jason’s mother, Barb Russ, and stepfather, Neil Glazman, both survive, as do his stepmother, Kate Baldwin; siblings Derek (Lori) Baldwin, Bliss (Foster) Peterson, Jennifer Wyss, Matthew Wyss, Andrea (Andrew) Knutson, and Sara Jane Baldwin; and nephews Jordan Meyer, Carter Peterson, Hunter Peterson, Jack Peterson, Henry Peterson, Gray Knutson, Davis Baldwin, Mylo Knutson, Jason’s family thanks his loyal friends Brandon Brown, Rachel Smith, Cullen Lawlor, Chasin Sandefer, and, most significantly, his former lover Ricky Anderson, who were all by his side when he died, as well as his brothers Bliss and Derek. Thank you also to Dougherty Funeral Home for their help with the arrangements. The date of Jason’s memorial ceremony will be revealed later.
