Jane Bird Obituary, Death – Dr. Jane Bird, who was known for her work as a drama educator, university lecturer, researcher, playmaker, co-author of ‘Acting Smart,’ colleague, friend, and mother, passed away earlier this year. She was known for her contributions to the fields of drama education, university lecturing, research, and playmaking. It was well known that she had made significant contributions to the fields of playwriting, research, lecturing at universities, and drama education.
Her contributions to the fields of playwriting, research, lecturing at universities, and education in the performing arts earned her a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding professional. Both Richard Sallis and Prue Wales, who had known Jane and worked with her for a period of time that exceeded twenty years, were asked by Jane’s family to speak about her professional life at her funeral. Both Richard Sallis and Prue Wales had worked with Jane for a period of time that exceeded twenty years. They had been requested to do so by Jane’s family. They had both worked with Jane at some point or another during the course of their careers, in one capacity or another.
Richard and Prue are both practitioners of research-based theater, and they both work at The University of Melbourne, which is one of the institutions in which Jane teaches in the field of drama education. Jane is a professor in the field of drama education. In addition, Richard and Prue are both teachers, more specifically in the field of drama education.
As a direct result of this, they arrived at the conclusion that it would be appropriate to write and perform a script at the funeral that detailed “a day in the working life of Jane Bird.” In other words, they decided that it would be appropriate to talk about Jane’s working life. Because they decided that doing so would be appropriate, we were able to arrive at this conclusion as a direct consequence of that decision. This eulogy was first presented at the funeral service for Jane in June of this year. The version presented here is an updated and slightly expanded version of the eulogy that was presented at Jane’s funeral service.
