James Melton Obituary, Death – James Melton, who was 64 years old, passed away. He was born in Oklahoma City on September 14, 1956, the son of Earnest Melton and Frances Rattler (Melton/McFadridge). James recognized employment gave him a fantastic sense of accomplishment at a young age. At the age of 11, he helped his brothers and close friends run their paper route, which was the beginning of his lengthy profession. He established his own route, started working for the Daily Oklahoman as an Independent Contractor in 1974, and eventually retired in 2012. In addition to enjoying his job, he also loved being a parent to his two children, Sydney and Molly.

Both of them learned from him the value of working hard and how to work hard to achieve your goals. Sydney and her close pals were coached by him for many years in softball. Everybody had a nickname for James, and you could tell he cared about you if he was being hard on you. He was charming, humorous, and sardonic and was always willing to provide a hand. James loved to watch any NBA game that aired on TV, play golf frequently, and buy and sell cars. He put in a lot of effort at work and was a nice buddy who enjoyed life.

His absence will be felt every day. He was predeceased by his: He leaves behind his devoted family: Mother Frances Faye Rattler, father Earnest Joel Melton, brothers JC Melton, HM “Porky” Melton, and Samuel “Sammy” Melton, sisters Shirley Williams and Wanda Belew. Daughters Molly and her husband Nathaniel Edwards and Sydney and her husband Jacobo Meza; Brothers Larry, Willie, Jerry, and Joel Melton; Sister Patricia Bowling; Grandchildren Kennedy Edwards, Reagan Edwards, Madison Edwards, Enri Lee Meza, and Jacobo James Meza; and close friends Bob & Patty Farr, Barney & Paula Emmerton, and David Brotherton. along with countless additional extended family members and close acquaintances. At the Vondel Smith Mortuary in South Lakes, a memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday at 11:00.
