James Lawson Obituary, Death – James Lawson has passed away suddenly. His son Jace Lawson, who resides in New Bedford, is the sole surviving member of the Lawson family. In addition, he is survived by his biological mother Jean, and his stepfather Richard Grant of Madison, New Hampshire; his biological brothers John Lawson, Jay Lawson, and Richard Grant Jr.; his biological sisters Julie Abati and Tanya Grant; and the mother of his son, Kim Hazzard.
Jimmy’s interest in automobiles began when he was a young boy when he enjoyed playing with his matchbox cars. As a teenager, he developed this passion by constructing toy models of automobiles and trucks. Eventually, he transferred this interest into working on automobiles and graduated from Southeastern Regional High School in 1998 as an Autobody Technician. He had a passion for vintage automobiles, but the Monte Carlo was his all-time favorite.
He dreamed of one day restoring one. However, whenever Jimmy got to spend time with his son, he felt the most content in his life. Some of his favorite times were spent on ocean boat journeys with Jace and their other pals during the summer. There were brief intervals in his life when he was unburdened by the demons that had plagued him. There were times when he could just be Dad.
Sadly, his battles with addiction rendered it impossible for his body to fight when it needed to do so the most, despite the fact that they were not a direct cause of his condition. Jimmy’s immediate and extended family will miss him very much. Everyone who knew Jim should remember him for his smile and the love he had for his kid, but they should also take this time to reach out to others for support if they are going through difficult times. This is our hope. It is never too late to seek assistance from others.
The memorial service will be held in private. In lieu of sending flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jimmy’s name to the Boys and Girls Club or Addiction Treatment Center in your community.
