Iris Castellano Obituary, Death – According to a statement that was issued by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday morning, a woman from Columbus who was driving her car when it was involved in a collision with a train on Monday evening was sadly killed as a result of the accident. The accident occurred on Monday evening. The statement is now available to the general public.

Just a few minutes after five o’clock in the evening, the Louisville and Indiana Railroad Company was alerted of the collision that had just occurred. It took place in the neighborhood that may be found in the general vicinity of where Indianapolis Road and Long Road join.

Iris Marie Castellano, a native of Columbus who was 26 years old at the time of the incident, was found by emergency services, and the coroner’s office was able to identify her as the driver of the vehicle because she had been wearing her driver’s license at the time of the accident. The medical examiner who was called to the scene of the collision determined that Castellano had passed away there at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that at the time of the collision, the train was moving in a direction that is southerly on the tracks that are located on the east side of Indianapolis Road, and that Castellano’s Ford SUV was moving in a direction that is westerly on Long Road. Both vehicles were traveling on the east side of Indianapolis Road. Both of the automobiles were engaged in the collision that occurred. The crash that took place involved both of the vehicles that were being driven at the time.

The Indiana State Police, the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, and the Columbus Police Department in Columbus, Ohio are all currently conducting their own separate investigations into the collision. The occurrence took place exactly one day after the passing of Dylan Richard Lonaker, 29, who had been killed the previous day when he was struck and killed by a train near State Road 11 in Columbus, Ohio. The fact that Lonaker was hit by a train is what ultimately led to his passing.
