Ellie Mclaughlin Obituary, Death – Ellie Mclaughlin of Green Ohio has unexpectedly passed away surrounded by the people she loved the most. Ellie was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on April 17, to Joseph and Minnie (Kozuloski) Holtzman. Joseph and Minnie (Kozuloski) Holtzman are Ellie’s parents. Joseph and Minnie are her father and mother. In 1942, she moved to Detroit, where she met Benjamin McLaughlin, whom she married on June 15, 1946. In 1942, she relocated. In 1973, she moved to Mio from the greater Detroit area and started the Parkway House Restaurant, which she owned for several years. She previously resided in the Detroit metropolitan area.
Her life goal was to one day own a successful restaurant in the north. Ellie was well-known across the neighborhood for her incredible culinary skills as well as her scrumptious pies. Ellie enjoyed dancing, which was another of her pastimes, and she was a fantastic whistler. Ellie stayed busy after leaving the restaurant by engaging in activities at the Mio United Methodist Church, which she had attended for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4126, where she served as president for over 30 years, and the Rebekah’s of Mio, which she also joined.
Working with NEMSCA for the past 25 years as part of the Foster Grandparent program at Mio Area Schools alongside Annette DiPonio in kindergarten was without a doubt one of the most rewarding experiences of her life. Her children are Nancy McLaughlin of Clinton Township, Dennis Holtzman of Punta Gorda, Florida, David McLaughlin of St. Helen, Kenneth (Nancy) of West Branch, Michael of Mio, Joyce Gordon of St. Helen, Kevin (Karin) of Mio, Jerry (Gilda) of West Branch, Lisa McLaughlin of St. Helen, step daughter Vivian of Cape Coral, Florida, and brother Rudolph Holtzman and wife Nancy from Pennsylvania
She was preceded in death by her son Ronald, daughter Linda, sister Lillian Kandrot, stepdaughter Leatrice Lackie, grandson David Lackie, granddaughter Michelle McLaughlin, and grandson Joshua Irelan. Her son Ronald, daughter Linda, sister Lillian Kandrot, stepdaughter Leatrice Lackie, and grandchildren David Lackie and Joshua Irelan all died before her. She was the last of her direct family to pass away.
