Edward Galison Obituary, Death – We’re writing to let you know that our father, Edward Galison, died unexpectedly this morning. We doubt that the Mineola courthouses will ever see somebody like him again because he was such a one-of-a-kind person. People who knew him well will never forget him or his unusual (or, as he proudly declared, “ugly”) ties. Those who knew him will never forget him. We are overjoyed that the Bar Association honored him with an award earlier this spring for his decades of service to the local legal community.

We were all smiling with pride as he captivated the audience with his enthusiasm for the legal profession and unflinching support for his clients. He talked about how he became a lawyer and how he has been a lawyer ever since. He was always ready with a joke, some of which were funny and others of which were not. He was an excellent athlete who played tennis at a level that many people half his age would envy (he actually was a prospect for the Brooklyn Dodgers farm team in his youth). He had visited every continent several times, but his favorite vacation spot remained Las Vegas. He was stubborn and unyielding, not to mention the pickiest eater you’d ever met.

Above all, he adored his children and grandchildren, and nothing made him happier than indulging them (yes, as many grandparents do but our dad really had a soft spot in this department). Everyone who knew him knew how much he adored his children and how heartbroken he was when his son, who also happened to be our brother, died of cancer in 2015. We have faith that he has found the tranquility he seeks and is currently with his loved one. Laura and I are heartbroken at our father’s death, and we will never stop loving and being influenced by him.

On Wednesday, November 16th, between 3pm and 7pm, a memorial ceremony will be conducted at the Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Rd, Syosset.
