Her passing was recorded on this date. Her passing occurred prior to her stay at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, which is located in the state of Michigan. Her father, Ivan “John” Irsi, was from Slovenia, and her mother, Ljubica Radovanovi, was from Serbia. Together, they had one daughter. They did not move to the United States, neither one of them. When she was just two years old, she and her mother uprooted their lives and moved to Detroit, Michigan, in the hope of making the American dream a reality. She has never known a life other than Detroit.
Duschanka spent his childhood in the town of Ecorse, which is located in the state of Michigan. He graduated from River Rouge High School in the year 1965. At River Rouge, she made connections with people that would prove to be lifelong companions. She was fluent in three languages: English, Spanish, and Serbian. Her Spanish, Serbian, and English were all quite good. She was driven by a strong interest in learning about different cultures all over the world. Duschanka, a self-proclaimed “Foodie,” became knowledgeable about and skilled in the preparation of dishes from all over the world.
Her favorite things to do included going out to eat, window shopping in thrift stores, visiting new places with her family (such as the Upper Peninsula, Canada, and Shipshewana), and listening to Motown and Elvis Presley music. She placed a high value on the time she was able to spend with her family, and she placed an especially high value on the time she was able to spend with her two grandchildren.
As a result, she made it a priority to spend as much time as she could with her family. Her parents, Ivan and Ljubica, passed away before she did, but she is survived by her husband, Gregg Schuiling, her four children, Ryan, Nathan (Rebecca), Angela (Kevin) Schemahorn, and Elizabeth Schuiling; her granddaughters, Sonja and Mila Schemahorn; her sister, Lillian Panda (Arthur Beaudrie); her brother, Peter Panda (Patricia); and her sister-in-law Lillian Panda.
