Dorene Hernandez Obituary,  Death – Officials from the Yolo County coroner’s office have determined that a 51-year-old woman from Sacramento was the victim of a homicide that occurred last week in the remote area of Winters. Deputy Coroner Laurel Weeks stated on Friday that Dorene Monica Hernandez passed away as a result of a gunshot wound to the torso. It was earlier stated by officials with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office that Hernandez’s husband, Alfonso Hernandez Jr., had shot and killed his wife when they were traveling in a camper vehicle at the Canyon Creek Resort on Highway 128.

After getting a phone call from a friend of the couple around eleven in the morning on Sunday, deputies went to the location in question to do a welfare check on the occupants. According to a report made by the Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page, this individual “said a friend contacted him and stated he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself.” “When deputies arrived on the site, they discovered a dead adult female who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound inside of an RV,” Investigators were able to determine that Alfonso Hernandez was the person of interest and issued a warning to law enforcement agencies along the Highway 50 corridor to be on the lookout for him. Hernandez was thought to be traveling by car in the direction of this corridor.

Reports started coming in at approximately one in the afternoon stating that the cops had found Hernandez’s vehicle on Icehouse Road, which is located close to the quaint town of White Hall. According to a post that was made on Facebook, “as sheriff’s deputies from El Dorado County and police from the California Highway Patrol attempted to reach Alfonso, he shot himself and was confirmed dead at the site.” The weapon that was thought to have been used in the murder was found and recovered. Detectives with the sheriff’s office are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
