He attended Ithaca High School in Ithaca, Michigan.

Dillan was well-known for his strength, determination, and fortitude. He had to outperform his brother, Benjamin, in everything from catching more and larger deer to beating him at every video game he had ever taught him to play. Despite his cancer, he defied the odds. Doctors thought he had only a few weeks to live when he was diagnosed, but he lived for nearly a year. He was always trying to prove you wrong.

He fantasized about one day becoming famous. He was constantly pressuring his sister, Lillian, to photograph him. He was Keeton’s biggest supporter and enjoyed watching him play football. He enjoyed hunting, video games, and skateboarding with his siblings and friends. He was obsessed with music, even writing, recording, and uploading his own songs for anyone to listen to on the internet. He also liked sports and would get his friends together for a game of 3 on 3 basketball. He became a huge University of Minnesota fan after attending his first game with his uncle in September. He made many friends among the players and fans as well.

His father, Benjamin Abell, sister, Lillian Abell, brother, Benjamin Abell, and brother Keeton Abell, as well as grandparents Mark and Carrie Thompson, Jenene and Barry Hodges, and Joseph and Tina Abell, all survive. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive him. As a memorial, contributions to the family’s final expenses may be made.
