She was born on April 27, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, to her late parents, the Reverend William Cotton and Mary (Luckadoo) Cotton. Her father passed away before she was born. Since then, neither of her parents has survived to this day. When she was born, her father had already passed away from a previous illness. Since that time, she has been deprived of the opportunity to say goodbye to both of her parents: her mother and her father.
Her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce E. (Lanita) Bunch, of Columbus; her daughter, Mary F. Hill, of Conyers, Georgia; her grandchildren Abdu Bunch, Jehan Bunch, Jamila Bunch, Maren (Anthony) Pope, and Matthew Hill; and a great-grandchild who goes by the name Israel Pope are among those who are still with her today.
