Charles Thompson Obituary, Death – Charles R. Thompson, who resided in Enterprise, Alabama and was 81 years old at the time of his death on November 20, 2022, passed away at Flowers Hospital. On Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 11:30 in the morning, there will be a service held at the graveside in the Meadowlawn Cemetery located in Enterprise. The planning and carrying out of the ceremony will be handled by Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory. The Reverend Glenn Crumpler will serve as the officiant for the event.

The family will be present at the Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service to offer their condolences to friends and family. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Enterprise Community College Foundation (ESCC Foundation), whose address is PO Box 1300 Enterprise, AL 36331, or the Enterprise Family YMCA (Enterprise Family YMCA, PO Box 310700 Enterprise, AL 36331).

Charlie founded Enterprise Wholesale, Inc. in the year 1975. Before he retired in 2022, he had previously served as the leader of this company for 47 years. He enjoyed spending his spare time playing golf and fishing, two of his favorite hobbies. He was a part of the team that helped organize the Enterprise Junior Open, which was held at the Enterprise County Club and contributed to the popularity of golf.

During his younger years, he was an official for football games and also enjoyed playing baseball and any other sport that featured a competitive element. His wife, children, and grandchildren, who all called him “Partner,” showed him endless love and affection. His mother and father, R.L. (Judge) and Jonnie Thompson, and his brother Hardee Thompson and sister Marie Rials all passed away before he did. He is the only member of his immediate family that is still alive today.

His wife, Martha Thompson, of Enterprise, Alabama, survived him, as did their daughter, Allison Thompson Baxter (and her husband Kevin), also of Enterprise; their son, Trent Thompson, also of Enterprise; their four grandchildren, Elliott Baxter, IsaBelle Thompson, Mary Charles Thompson, and Harrison Thompson; and two sisters, Arie Wise (and her husband Ronnie), of Clanton, Alabama, and Barbara Morris, of Phenix City, Alabama.
