Betty Carson Obituary, Death – It is with deep sorrow that we must inform you that Mrs. Betty Carson passed away on November 9th, 2022; the news of her passing is a terrible occurrence that we are relaying to you. As a result of the recent passing of Mr. Carson, the Decatur Independent School District would like to take this opportunity to extend our most heartfelt condolences and sympathies to each and every member of the Carson family.
In 1955, JE Carson and Betty Carson moved their household from Kaufman ISD to Decatur so that they could get married in Decatur. The reason for this move was simple: they wanted to get married in Decatur. Since that time, they have settled down and made Decatur their permanent home. Betty began visiting the homes of her students who were bedridden or otherwise unable to leave the house for their Home Economics classes after she had been teaching at DHS for a number of years. Betty was teaching Home Economics at the time.
It is a well-known fact that the majority of Decatur’s residents learned how to cook and sew from Betty, and this point has been brought up on multiple occasions. Her recipes, which initially consisted of grace and love as their foundational elements, are still used in kitchens all over the country even to this day. Her love and grace were the primary components of her recipes from the beginning. Mrs. Carson maintained her position as an instructor in the Decatur community right up until the year 1998.
