Ben Merold Obituary, Death – On November 16, 2022, Ben Merold of Saint Charles, Missouri, who was 96 years old, entered into the presence of the Lord. devoted father of the late Mike Merold, Mark (the late Elaine) Merold, Joseph F. Merold, Catherine Merold, Trenton Yorks, Tammy (Greg) Tucker, Susan (Wes) Heaton, and the late Jay Pope; beloved husband of Pat Merold for 73 years; beloved son of the late Phyllis and Carl Merold; dear father-in-law of Linda Merold and Cindi (Kirk) Marshall; cherished grandfather of Josh (Amy) Merold
Ben studied at Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Illinois, and Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee. On the Johnson University campus, he met his wife, and they soon got hitched. Their children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren all benefitted from their love for God and one another. Ben and Pat were practically inseparable and did everything together. They always traveled together and held hands. Ben loved spending time with his family since they meant the world to him.
Ben was a remarkable man of faith who enjoyed sharing the gospel wherever he went. He was compassionate and always uplifted others because he had faith in humanity. He had a lot of power among other church leaders, yet he never abused his position. Many people looked up to Ben because of his wisdom and exceptional capacity for biblical understanding. Over the course of his career, he served as a pastor for numerous churches, including Harvester Christian Church for 17 years as Lead Pastor and Villa Grove Christian Church for 14 years as “Minister at Large.” He also served as Lead Pastor for Eastside Christian Church in Fullerton, California for 22 years.
Ben also had faculty positions at Kentucky Christian University and Lincoln Christian University and was awarded three honorary doctorates. Harvester Christian Church founded the Merold Institute in 2014 in Ben’s memory. During World War II, Ben proudly served in the U.S. Marines. All who knew him adored him and will miss him terribly. Ben’s name may be used to make memorial donations to Harvester Christian Church.
