Ben Damen Obituary, Death – At the time of his dying on November 10, 2022, Ben Damen was 92 years old. He passed away in a calm and serene manner at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, which was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Husband of the late Gysbertha “Beppy” Damen, to whom he was married in July of 1955 and who passed away on November 3, 2020; at the time of her death, the two had been married for 64 years.
The ceremony was performed in the month of July in 1955. A loving and devoted parent to his two children, Burt (Carey), Sue, and his daughter, Sue. Granddad of Benjamin and Hilary, as well as Benjamin’s own grandfather. Opa. His relatives who are still alive now split their time between the Netherlands and Canada as their places of residence. It was already too late for his older brother Jan, who had passed away before him. Ben and Beppy set off on an exciting new adventure in 1955 when they relocated from the United Kingdom to London, Ontario in Canada.
Ben was a man of many trades; at one point in his life, he ran hotels, restaurants, power tools, backhoes, cranes, and even a waffle iron. He was a man of extraordinary versatility. He embodied the spirit of the Renaissance. He was not the type of person to give up easily when faced with a challenge. Genuinely enthusiastic about both his extensive family of canine companions and his Mercedes at the same time.
The family would want to take this opportunity to express their gratitude to Dr. Schiedel and the rest of the staff at St. Marys Memorial Hospital for their care and support during this difficult time. Those who desire to do so have the option of sending memorial gifts to the St. Marys Healthcare Foundation, which may be found at P.O. Box 940, St. Marys, Ontario N4X 1B6.
