Alice Evans Obituary, Death – Alice G. Burton, MI Kalamazoo At the age of 93, Alice Grace Evans passed away in her own home on October 8, 2022. She was the eleventh and final child to be born to the late John Elliott and Emma (Slaughterback) Elliott on December 20, 1928. She was the youngest of eleven children. Alice’s family relocated to the Michigan town of Galesburg and Comstock when she was a teenager. The location is in the state of Michigan.
She received a certificate in 1975 after completing the adult education course at Comstock High School. After the birth of her son David, Alice left her employment at Kalamazoo Paper Box to focus on caring for her family at home. After a while, she went back to work, initially at Rite-Aid and then at Muir Drug, where she remained until she retired in the early 1990s. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary 6252 and the UFCW Local 951. After retirement, Alice and Carl spent their winters in Florida with their children, grandkids, other relatives, and friends.
Travels to Hawaii, New Orleans, northern Michigan, a few cruises, and other destinations were gifts from Alice to Carl on other holidays. In addition to gardening, sewing, reading, and playing casino games, Alice had a variety of interests. Alice had been a devoted Methodist and a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church since she was a little girl.
On July 3, 1954, she wed Carl Evans Jr.; the couple had one son, Alice Evans Jr., who passed away on March 18, 2012. She was predeceased by four sisters, Minerva, Mary, and Gladys, as well as her stepson Carl “Butch” Evans III, six brothers, Horace, Clarence, Charles, Lawrence, Arthur, and Clyde. In addition to her devoted friend “Buffy,” her three children Jeannie (Scott) Rogers, Kathy Evans, and David (Susan) Evans, as well as a substantial number of nieces and nephews, Alice is survived by her three children.
